
West Bengal Releases Draft Voters’ List After SIR; Over 58 Lakh Names Deleted
The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of West Bengal on Tuesday made public the list of names deleted from the state’s draft electoral roll following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.
According to official data, a total of 5,820,898 voters over 58 lakh pre-existing electors have been removed from the draft voters’ list for 2026 due to various reasons such as death, relocation, duplication, and missing records.

Reasons for deletion
As per data released by WB CEO sources, voters were deleted for the following reasons:
- Declared dead: 2,416,852 voters
- Relocated permanently: 1,988,076 voters
- Missing/untraceable: 1,220,038 voters
- Duplicate entries: 138,328 voters
- Other reasons: 57,604 voters
Total voters deleted: 5,820,898
Claims and objections window
The Election Commission has clarified that individuals aggrieved by the deletion of their names can submit claims using Form 6, along with a declaration form and supporting documents.
- Deadline to file claims and objections: January 15, 2026
- The final electoral rolls will be published after the completion of this process.
The updated draft voters’ list is seen as a crucial step in ensuring accurate electoral rolls ahead of the upcoming state assembly polls scheduled for early next year.
