‘Ghayal hoon…’: Raghav Chadha Slams Aam Aadmi Party’s ‘Lies’ With ‘Dhurandhar’ Reference
New Delhi: In a sharply worded video message that has intensified internal tensions within the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), senior leader and Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha on Saturday refuted a series of allegations levelled against him by party colleagues, dismissing them as “lies” and asserting that the truth would soon be “exposed”.
The public rebuttal comes a day after sections within the Aam Aadmi Party accused Chadha of internal misconduct and questioned his role in recent organisational decisions. While the party has not issued a unified official statement detailing the charges, multiple leaders had hinted at “serious concerns” over Chadha’s conduct, triggering speculation of a deepening rift.
Breaking his silence, Chadha released a video message in which he appeared visibly emotional yet defiant. “Ghayal hoon isiliye ghatak hoon (I am wounded, but I will not give up),” he said, invoking a dramatic tone while also making a cultural reference to “Dhurandhar”, a term often used to describe a seasoned warrior or formidable strategist.
“I have been accused falsely. These are not just baseless allegations, but outright lies. Every single claim made against me will be exposed with facts,” Chadha said, adding that he would soon present evidence to counter the charges.
The use of the word “Dhurandhar” in his address was seen by political observers as a deliberate attempt to position himself as a resilient figure within the party, capable of weathering internal criticism and political attacks. His remarks also suggested that the ongoing dispute may not be resolved quietly behind closed doors.
Sources within the party indicated that the allegations stem from disagreements over candidate selection, campaign strategy, and internal communication lapses ahead of key electoral battles. However, no formal disciplinary action against Chadha has been publicly confirmed.
Chadha, widely regarded as one of AAP’s prominent young faces and a close associate of top leadership in the past, hinted at a larger conspiracy to tarnish his image. “There are attempts being made to malign my reputation. But I have full faith that the truth will prevail,” he said.
The controversy has sparked debate within political circles about the state of cohesion within AAP, which has projected itself as a party built on transparency and internal democracy. Analysts note that public airing of internal disputes could impact the party’s image, particularly at a time when it is seeking to expand its footprint beyond its traditional strongholds.
While Chadha stopped short of naming specific individuals behind the allegations, his tone suggested deep dissatisfaction with sections of the leadership. He also called on party workers and supporters to remain patient and not be swayed by what he termed “misinformation”.
“I have always worked with honesty and dedication for the party and the country. My track record speaks for itself,” he said, urging supporters to “wait for the truth to come out”.
The leadership of the Aam Aadmi Party has so far maintained a cautious stance, with no senior leader directly responding to Chadha’s video message. Insiders suggest that efforts may be underway to contain the fallout and prevent further escalation.
Political commentators believe the episode reflects broader challenges faced by emerging political parties in managing internal dissent while maintaining a united public front. “Such disputes, if not handled carefully, can erode credibility and distract from governance and electoral priorities,” a senior analyst said.
As the situation unfolds, all eyes will be on whether Chadha follows through on his promise to present evidence and whether the party initiates any formal inquiry into the allegations. For now, the war of words appears set to continue, signalling a turbulent phase within one of India’s key opposition parties.
Chadha concluded his message with a note of resolve, reiterating that he would fight back against what he described as injustice. “Sach ko jitne mein der lag sakti hai, lekin haar nahin hoti (Truth may take time to win, but it never loses),” he said.
The coming days are likely to determine whether this internal confrontation leads to reconciliation or a deeper fracture within the party ranks.
