Jana Sena Party Launches Membership Drive, Offers Accidental Insurance and Legal Aid to Cadre
After its ally Telugu Desam Party (TDP) rolled out an extensive membership outreach programme, the Jana Sena Party(JSP) has announced a fresh membership drive, offering accidental insurance coverage and legal assistance to card-carrying members as part of an effort to strengthen its grassroots base across Andhra Pradesh.
Under the current enrolment initiative, individuals seeking to join the party or renew their membership are required to pay a fee of Rs 400. The one-time fee marks a reduction from Rs 500 charged during the 2024 membership campaign, a move party leaders said was intended to encourage wider participation, particularly among youth and first-time supporters.
Party functionaries stated that registered members would be provided accidental insurance coverage during the membership period. In addition, the party has promised legal aid to members in cases arising out of political activities or public protests undertaken on behalf of the organisation.
Senior JSP leaders said the benefits were designed to provide a sense of security and institutional backing to cadre engaged in field-level work. “The aim is not merely to expand numbers but to ensure that our members feel supported and protected,” a party spokesperson said.
The drive comes at a time when alliance partner TDP has intensified organisational restructuring efforts following recent electoral gains. Political observers view the parallel membership campaigns as a coordinated attempt by the alliance to consolidate support ahead of local body polls and future electoral contests.
According to party sources, digital registration options have been enabled alongside traditional offline enrolment through designated party offices and local convenors. The membership card, once issued, will serve as proof of enrolment and eligibility for the announced benefits.
JSP leaders indicated that special camps would be organised at mandal and district levels over the coming weeks to facilitate enrolment and renewal. The party is also expected to deploy volunteers to reach remote and rural areas to widen its organisational footprint.
Founded by actor-turned-politician Pawan Kalyan, the JSP has positioned itself as a key ally in the state’s ruling alliance. The latest membership initiative is being seen as part of its strategy to solidify cadre strength and enhance organisational preparedness.
